Fiber Optic Connectors

Measurement Fiber Optic Connector Dimensions

With the spread of communications services such as Internet and telephony that use fiber optics, demand for the connectors (ferrules) that connect optic fibers is increasing. In recent years, demand is growing for high-bandwidth data transfers such as movies, necessitating high-precision ferrules to minimize loss of light at the connections. Sinto S-Precision’s products are used in ferrule dimension control.

Measurement Ferrules

To minimize the loss of data transmitted by optic fibers, fiber cores with a diameter measuring approximately 1/100mm must be connected perfectly. This requires extremely high precision of both position and diameter in the processing of fiber holes in the ferrule.

Fiber Optic Connectors(Ferrules)

Ferrules are connected using 2 guide holes. Using a line between these two guide holes as a guide, the eccentricity (deviation) and diameters of each hole are measured.
